Is there stopping Yaya Toure?

New Delhi: Manchester City are still favourites to win the English Premier League title in a season that has seen Chelsea and Liverpool come toe to toe in providing a challenge to City. It is City`s title to lose and both Jose Mourinho and Brendon Rodgers, managers of Chelsea and Liverpool have acknowledged the fact in recent times.

The powerful world class internationals have delivered for Manuel Pellegrini`s men and midfield maestro Yaya Toure has been pivotal in City`s fortunes.

Toure alongside Brazil`s Fernandinho has formed a lethal combination in midfield and their partnership has been lethal for City all season. The duo has mastered Pellegrini`s plan with Toure holding the midfield has also been seen in a more attacking role in crucial matches.

Toure has scored 17 goals this season in domestic plight which is 16 more than the entire United midfielders. This is the highest by a Manchester City player this season in the Premier League. He is third in the goal-scoring tally behind Liverpool duo Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge. Toure has assisted five times and his goals have come from all parts of the field to show why City depends mostly on his services. Toure has become a peripheral figure in midfield just likeLiverpool`s Steven Gerrard and Chelsea`s Frank Lampard.

City travel to Anfield where they face title contenders Liverpool next Sunday. And Toure will hope to continue his rich form. Recently, teammate Samir Nasri hailed the former Barcelona star as the best midfielder in the world.
